We often get questions in the office about how different elements work within our unique church. Below are some of the more frequent questions posed and their answers in no particular order.
Well, it's really a simple concept! We have three entry points onto the church property that we refer to as "gates". There, you will be greeted by a member of the congregation who will give you a bulletin as well as a pre-packaged communion set. They will also help you locate 88.5FM on your radio dial, which is the station that we broadcast our services on. From there, you simply select where you'd like to park and participate in worship.
Beginning on January 1st of every year, people can make contributions towards their state. All you have to do is simply NOTE it on your check or by writing how much money you're donating and what state you'd like it to be contributed towards on your Church Life Form (located in your bulletin). Example: $20 for Florida. Often times, when people are donating cash, the cash gets separated from the Church Life Form and we have no way of knowing how much was donated by a person unless they physically write it down. Once the contributions towards a particular state totals $100 then that flag flies for the duration of the year (weather permitting).
2B. Why do you fly the US Flag and Canadian Flag at the same height?
The Veterans of Foreign Wars website VFW.org contains some helpful information about flag etiquette. It states that when flags are displayed as a grouping which is what we would consider our display, then the "U.S. flag goes to its own right. Flags of other nations are flown at same height." Additionally, from the order code RL30243 of the US Congress - Report of Federal Law Relating to Display of the US Flag, " When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace." The Canadian flag is flown because of an historical collaboration with the Drive In Christian Church and a ministry in Canada led by "Padre" Lambert whom the memorial fountain is named after as well.

Each week, we include a Church Life Form inside of your bulletin. All you have to do is print the name of the person you would like included on the list and we take it from there! You can also submit a request via "Contact Us" tab on our web site or by calling the church office at 386-767-8761. The staff takes all of your requests and creates a new list each week. That list is then placed on the Communion Table and prayed over each Sunday during both services. We also have a prayer ministry that meets once a month that prays over the previous month's lists on the church property. We post the current prayer list on our web site as well.
We receive this question quite often.
The particular form of the cross on our building is referred to as the "Portate Cross" from the Latin word "portare" which means "to carry." You'll sometimes hear it referred to as "the carried cross," reminding us that Jesus carried his cross to Calvary, and also called those who would be followers of him to "take up their cross and follow me." It is also often referred to as the St. Andrew's cross which is a part of the denominational logo of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with whom we affiliate.
We offer fresh hot coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts before and after each service in Friendship Hall which is located at the east side of the property. We invite everyone to come in and say hello over a cup of joe! (Resuming in June 2021)
We have restrooms in our Friendship Hall Building (Building E) as well as on the first floor of the Altar Building (Building A).
We offer Sunday school classes for children in Kindergarten through High school in the downstairs area of the Altar building (Building A) every Sunday from 9:55-10:55am. We invite you to bring your child(ren) inside for a fun, climate-controlled biblical experience while you enjoy worship outside. No. In fact, there is no longer a movie screen on the property. The minister, choir, pianist, and organist are all located on the 2nd story of the Altar Building (Building A). You can see the balcony from just about anywhere on the property.
Church services happen no matter what the weather is like! If you would like a climate-controlled experience, then we invite you to sit inside our chapel located in our Friendship Hall Building. Otherwise, you're welcome to sit in your car, on one of the many benches provided, or bring a chair and sit under a tree! We're a casual congregation - so dress for the weather and enjoy!
That's easy too! Simply make a note on your Church Life Form and the staff will send you a letter and a form to complete and return and voila! You also can become a member by being baptized by one of our ministers. You can request that by noting it on your Church Life Form.
Disciples of Christ partake in communion every time we gather together for worship. We have loving volunteers who carefully pray over, and package single-serving communion sets each week that consist of grape juice and communion bread. Those sets are provided to you as you arrive on the property for worship. EVERYONE is welcome to join in the Table of our Lord.
The choir rehearses every Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the Altar Building. Anyone is welcome to join at any time during the year. The front door is always locked. Simply ring the bell and you will be buzzed in. We'd love to have you!
14. Can I park my trailer/camper/extra vehicle/boat/motorcycle on your property for a donation?
We stopped providing parking in late 2017 and now have a building where that parking area once was. You can contact Larry Fornari with Spruce Creek Storage at 386-275-9342 to inquire about special event parking in other locations.
